Federal Elections in Mexico 2006: Distribution of Seats in the Chamber of Deputies

Mexico City newsdailies El Universal and Excélsior report today that according to definitive results of the vote for deputies in the 2006 federal election, published yesterday by the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE), the 500 seats in the Chamber of Deputies would be allocated as follows: PAN, 206 (137 first-past-the-post deputies and 69 multi-member); Coalición por el Bien de Todos (PRD-PT-C), 160 (100 first-past-the-post and 60 multi-member); Alianza por México (PRI-PVEM), 121 (63 first-past-the-post and 58 multi-member); Nueva Alianza, nine (all multi-member); and Alternativa Socialdemócrata y Campesina, four (all multi-member).
