The Republic of Cyprus (ROC) held a presidential runoff vote on Sunday, February 24, 2013, as no candidate won an absolute majority in the presidential election held on Sunday, February 17. The island of Cyprus has been under a de facto partition since the Turkish military intervention of 1974, and as such this year's presidential election and runoff vote only take place in the southern two-thirds of the Mediterranean island ruled by the predominantly Greek Cypriot ROC administration, which is internationally recognized as the sole legitimate government of the entire island.
